The Customer Support Staff of Cross Valley Water District has been receiving inquiries from customers regarding billing calculations. With the added concerns of water conservation, customers are finding additional ways to conserve and are curious as to how much water they are actually saving with these changes. Remember, the lower the water consumption, the lower the water bill. Use the charts below to calculate your costs and savings.
If you cut back on your water consumption and are interested to see how much water and money you are actually saving, do the following test:
Take a current reading from your meter. (If you are not sure where your meter is located, or which meter is yours, contact the main office at
360-668-6766 or
425-485-8461 and the Customer Support Staff will be happy to assist you.) Maintain your new conservation habits for one week. Take another meter reading the same time of day you took the reading one week prior. Subtract the first reading from the new reading. Divide by 7. This is your average daily consumption measured in cubic feet. Compare this number to your current bill. The billing date on your bill is not the reading date of your meter.
One cubic foot equals 7.48 gallons of water. Conserving 10 gallons of water per day equals 3,650 gallons per year. If every customer cut back their usage by 10 gallons of water per day, the District in whole would conserve over 20,294,000 gallons of water per year.
Cutting your water consumption by 500 cubic feet per month will save you up to $ 129.60 per year.
